Aims and Scope
Editor-in-Chief: Professor Suresh Antony
Infection and Drug Resistance is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that focuses on the optimal treatment of infection (bacterial, fungal and viral) and the development and institution of preventative strategies to minimize the development and spread of resistance.
The journal is characterized by the rapid reporting of high-quality original research, reviews, guidelines, expert opinions, commentary and clinical studies in all areas of infection and drug resistance. Specific topics covered by the journal include:
Development of novel anti-infectives
Optimal use of existing anti-infectives
Pathogenesis and etiology of infectious disease
Proteomic and genomic studies in resistant organisms
Mechanisms of resistance development
Infection control in hospitals and the community
Diagnosis and early detection of infection
Clinical management of infection
Clinical management of antibiotic resistance (e.g. in transplant and HIV patients)
Epidemiology of infection and antibiotic resistance
Education and prevention of drug resistance
Patient adherence and satisfaction
The journal does not accept study protocols. The journal will consider case reports only if they make a valuable and original contribution to the literature.
When considering submission of a paper utilizing publicly-available data authors should ensure that such studies add significantly to the body of knowledge and that they are validated using the authors’ own data through replication in an original sample.
As of 1st April 2019, Infection and Drug Resistance will no longer consider meta-analyses for publication.
