This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use Journament's website and services. Journament is provided by ZincirX Bilişim Teknoloji ve Danışmanlık A.Ş. ("ZincirX A.Ş."), a company established in Türkiye, and ZincirX Inc., a Delaware corporation; "we", "us" and "our" mean these two companies, and section 1 explains which of them is responsible for your data.

1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data

  • Journament is provided by two companies: ZincirX Bilişim Teknoloji ve Danışmanlık A.Ş. ("ZincirX A.Ş."), a joint-stock company established in Türkiye, Gülbahçe Mah. Gülbahçe Cad. İYTE Sitesi No: 1/40 İç Kapı No: 51, 35430 Urla/İzmir, Türkiye (MERSİS 0999144137300001; Urla Vergi Dairesi 9991441373); and ZincirX Inc., a corporation incorporated in Delaware, United States, with its registered office at c/o Legalinc Corporate Services Inc., 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States
  • The company responsible for your data, the controller (in Turkish law, the veri sorumlusu), depends on how you deal with us, as the next three points explain
  • If you buy from Journament with Türkiye as your billing country, ZincirX A.Ş. is the controller of your account and purchase data, because it is the company that sells to you and issues your invoice
  • If you buy from Journament with any other billing country, ZincirX Inc. is the controller of your account and purchase data, for the same reason. ZincirX A.Ş. operates Journament for both companies and processes that data on ZincirX Inc.'s behalf, only on its instructions, under a data processing agreement between the two companies
  • In every other case (if you visit our website or apps, have an account without having bought anything, or write to us), the controller is ZincirX A.Ş., which runs the website and the apps
  • The two companies are separate controllers, not joint controllers: each is responsible for the data it controls
  • For users in Türkiye, the controller named above is the veri sorumlusu under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). You can use your rights under Article 11 of the KVKK, and under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies, by writing to info@journament.com

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Name, email address, institutional affiliation, and password when you register
  • Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, search queries, and interaction data
  • Research Data: Journals searched, articles viewed, and citations tracked
  • Blockchain Data: Wallet addresses and transaction data for NFT minting (optional)
  • Cookies: Session cookies, preference cookies, and analytics cookies

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve our services
  • Personalize your experience and search results
  • Communicate important updates and features
  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance platform performance
  • Prevent fraud and ensure security
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • Third-party service providers (payment processors, analytics) under strict confidentiality
  • Buyers in Türkiye: payment and invoice details are shared with ZincirX Bilişim Teknoloji ve Danışmanlık A.Ş. (the seller, which issues the invoice) and with iyzico (iyzi Ödeme ve Elektronik Para Hizmetleri A.Ş.), which processes the card payment on zincirx.com
  • All other buyers: payment details are shared with ZincirX Inc. (the seller) and with Stripe, which processes the card payment
  • Legal requirements when required by law
  • Blockchain transactions are public and immutable

5. Data Security

  • SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmission
  • Secure password hashing and storage
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication measures
  • However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure

6. Your Rights

  • Access your personal data

  • Export your data in portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time

7. Cookies and Tracking

  • Strictly necessary (always on): the session cookie keeps you signed in and remembers choices such as your language, and ends after 120 minutes of inactivity; XSRF-TOKEN protects forms against cross-site request forgery and ends with the session; the "Remember me" cookie, only if you tick that box when signing in, keeps you signed in on that browser.
  • Functional (Journament's own): referral_token, set only if you arrive through a member's referral link, keeps the referral code for 30 days so that the member who invited you can be credited; claimIntent, in your browser's local storage, briefly remembers a journal you were claiming while you sign in.
  • Your cookie choice: zx_consent, in your browser's local storage, records whether you accepted analytics and advertising, and when; we ask again after 6 months.
  • Analytics, only with your consent: Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC, USA) uses the _ga and _ga_<ID> cookies, kept for up to 2 years, to measure the pages visited, the browser, device and approximate location (derived from the IP address), and the sign-up, checkout and purchase steps (amount, currency and payment reference). Until you accept, its script is not loaded at all.
  • Advertising, only with your consent: Google AdSense (Google LLC, USA) shows ads on journal, article and home pages and may use the __gads, __gpi and __eoi cookies, kept for up to 13 months, to measure ads, limit how often you see them and personalise them. Until you accept, its script is not loaded and no ads are shown.
  • You choose in the cookie banner (accept all, reject all, or purpose by purpose) and can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent stops the tool and deletes the cookies it set on journament.com. Rejecting does not limit your use of Journament.

8. Children's Privacy

  • Our services are not intended for users under 18 years old
  • We do not knowingly collect data from children
  • If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us

9. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this policy periodically
  • Changes will be posted on this page with updated date
  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
