Abstract
O objetivo deste artigo é descrever o processo de análise de necessidades para cursos de inglês para fins acadêmicos, realizado com pós-graduandos em Ciência da Computação. A análise buscava determinar as situações presente e alvo de uso da língua, primeiramente com 13 e, posteriormente, após modificações no instrumento, com 213 alunos. Os resultados apontam, dentre outras coisas, que grande parte dos alunos possui uma auto-avaliação positiva de sua proficiência na língua. Este fato demanda tarefas e abordagens que levem em consideração essa imagem a fim de assegurar maior motivação e melhor desempenho dos alunos nas tarefas do curso.
