Abstract
O ensino de leitura em língua estrangeira (LE) baseado em gêneros busca desenvolver capacidades de linguagem e construir estratégias de aprendizagem. Considerando a noção bakhtiniana (1997) de gêneros e a perspectiva dos estudos de Schneuwly e Dolz (2010), este artigo busca analisar uma atividade de leitura de um material didático para o 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental. Este se propõe, nas orientações metodológicas, a ensinar LE por meio dos gêneros. Esta proposta se cumpre parcialmente: utiliza-se o gênero como instrumento de ensino mais estrutural que de leitura. O aluno se envolve mais com verificação de conteúdos, reconhecendo informações e não construindo sentido.
