Abstract
La metafora costituisce un dispositivo cognitivamente complesso, basato sulla mappatura di due domini in conflitto, che si impone in tutte le dimensioni della vita quotidiana. La prospettiva neuroscientifica consente oggi di riconoscere nel pensiero metaforico non solo un attivatore della plasticità del cervello, e in quanto tale partecipe attivo della storia evolutiva della mente umana, ma un grado successivo di elaborazione cognitiva rispetto alle mappature implicite nella metonimia.
