Abstract
El artículo presenta los resultados sobre el conocimiento y usos de herramientas TIC de estudiantes de Pedagogía, pertenecientes a una institución de Educación Superior del Consejo de Rectores de Chile. La finalidad del estudio es reflexionar sobre cómo debe dar respuesta el currículum de Formación Inicial Docente a las competencias en TIC demandadas a los futuros profesionales de la Educación. Se buscó información en respuesta a interrogantes asociadas a la familiaridad y alfabetización que poseen dichos estudiantes, tipo de acceso y uso que dan a las TIC, para posteriormente, revisar en qué y cómo deberían ser formados los docentes para asegurar los aprendizajes y competencias en esta área. Desde el punto de vista metodológico, corresponde a un estudio cuantitativo descriptivo de corte transversal, con una población de 150 alumnos de la cohorte 2009, pertenecientes a cinco carreras de Pedagogía, a los cuales se les aplicó un cuestionariodebidamente validado (Alpha de Cronbach 0,89). Para el análisis de la información se utilizaron métodos descriptivos numéricos, frecuencias y promedios. Se concluye que los estudiantes de Pedagogía poseen un alto acceso a los recursos TIC, y, por lo mismo, son sujetos nativos con grados alfabetización digital suficiente que les permite acceder y usufructuar de dichos recursos sin dificultades. Sin embargo, se devela que no conocen ni usan programas específicos para el campo de la educación y tampoco saben cómo este dominio que poseen se puede traducir en su futuro desempeño profesional, especialmente en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje a nivel aula.

Abstract The article shows the results of a research study, which was carried out in a regional public state university from southern Chile, in order to find out knowledge and use of ICT that Initial Teacher Training Program students have. Specifically, the study intends to look for answers related to computer literacy, type of access and use of ICT and, at the same time, promotes reflection on how the curriculum should prepare future teachers in order to guarantee learning and competencies in this area. Using a transversal descriptive quantitative methodology, a validated questionnaire (Cronbach Alpha 0.89) was answered by a sample of 150 students belonging to cohort 2009. We conclude that teacher training students have an easy access to ICT resources and, therefore, they are native subjects whoshow a high computer literacy degree. However, they do not use specific programs related to education nor do they know how they can take advantage of that ICT knowledge in the teaching learning process within the classroom in their future professional career.
