Abstract
Lo studio delle morfologie cui è ricorsa la letteratura per l’infanzia occidentale si spiega anche alla luce delle recenti scoperte in merito al pensiero controfattuale dei bambini, ossia il riferimento da un lato a ciò che non esiste, che potrebbe avvenire in futuro o che sarebbe potuto avvenire in passato se si fossero date condizioni differenti, dall’altro a mondi inesistenti e del tutto implausibili, come testimoniato dal genere fantasy. Contrariamente a quanto sostenuto da Piaget, le neuroscienze identificano oggi nella corteccia pre-frontale la regione cui si riconoscono prerogative tradizionalmente antitetiche quali la pianificazione delle azioni, la progettualità e l’immaginazione.
