Abstract
A porosidade entre economia subterrânea e economia formal foi uma realidade bem evidente na actividade do contrabando tradicional na fronteira luso-espanhola. Focalizando dois períodos históricos distintos (1930-40 e 1970-80), procuraremos, neste artigo, dar conta das dinâmicas sociais associadas ao contrabando, bem como do modo como essa actividade clandestina gerou uma próspera indústria, que marca até hoje o quotidiano da vila de Campo Maior.
The porosity of the subterranean economy and formal economies was apparent in the traditional cross border Portuguese and Spanish smuggling activities. By focusing on two distinct historical periods (1930-40 and 1970-80), we will account for the social dynamics associated with smuggled goods, and we will explore how that underground activity generated the prosperous industry that until today affects the everyday life in the town of Campo Maior until today.
