Abstract
Abstract Topic Benign Disease: Pediatric Esophageal Disorders Video Description This is a thoracoscopic operative video of a subtotal resection of a right upper thoracic esophageal duplication cyst without myotomy. Discussions regarding intraoperative decompression of the cyst, dissection techniques and identification of structures is described along with a hemostasis maneuver done to address an inadvertent avulsion of the azygous hemoclip. To the best of our knowledge, no video description has been done to describe the resection of these lesions as the pathology and its location is rare (in close proximity to the tracheobronchial tree). Intraoperative considerations regarding resection of these lesions are also controversial and no best practice has been described to the best of our knowledge. In this case, we considered a subtotal resection to avoid an upper esophageal myotomy leaving a cuff of cyst wall behind.
