Abstract
Abstract Topic Esophageal Cancer: Surgical Treatment of Esophageal Cancer – technique Video Description During minimal invasive esophagectomy (MIE), preservation of right bronchial artery (RBA) is shown to improve short term perioperative outcomes. Usual location of RBA is under the azygous vein and preservation of azygous vein most often ensures RBA oreservation. Here we report a variant of RBA which crosses the subcarinal field over the lymph nodes. Ensuring adequate lymphadenectomy while preserving RBA in such situations becomes challenging. The surgeon has employed specific maneuvers to safeguard the pedicle while clearing the subcarinal lymph nodes. At the end of the procedure, a preserved pedicle supplying the right bronchus is seen.
