Abstract
Echinacea purpurea petal extract (EPPE) may attenuate type I allergic symptoms. Dietary EPPE decreased nasal scratching and sneezing in allergic rhinitis model mice. This decrease may be attributed to the decrease in serum immunoglobulin E levels and the potential suppression of chemical mediator release from mast cells, as suggested by previous in vitro findings.
