Abstract
Abstract Topic Esophageal Cancer: Surgical Treatment of Esophageal Cancer – technique Video Description Minimally Invasive Mediastinoscopic Esophagectomy (MICE) has attracted increasing attention because of its potential to reduce postoperative respiratory complications. In addition, the application of robotic assistance to a mediastinoscopic approach is expected to enhance surgical precision, particularly during dissection around the recurrent laryngeal nerves. Furthermore, combining a robotic transcervical approach with a transhiatal route enables meticulous lymph node dissection in the middle and lower mediastinum. Importantly, this robotic procedure can be safely and effectively performed using a standard da Vinci Xi system, without the need for specialized platforms such as a single-port system. This broadens its applicability and facilitates adoption in institutions already equipped with conventional robotic systems. In this video presentation, we demonstrate the technical aspects of robotic-assisted transcervical esophagectomy, referred to as Robotic Abdominal Cervical Esophagectomy (RACE). The video focuses on the details of cervical skin incision, robotic docking from the cervical approach, and the subsequent operative steps performed under robotic assistance. This video also provide the actual procedure of robotic cervical and abdominal procedure which include sufficient precise dissection around bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve LNs together with the middle and lower mediastinal LNs dissection. Through the presentation of actual surgical procedures, we aim to highlight the feasibility, safety, and practical advantages of this technique. This approach offers a minimally invasive yet comprehensive strategy for esophagectomy, allowing precise manipulation in anatomically complex regions while potentially improving surgical safety and outcomes.
