Abstract
Abstract Law enforcement officers frequently encounter traumatic events that significantly impact their mental health, leading to high rates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other stress-related conditions. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an effective treatment for these issues, helping officers process and alleviate distress from traumatic memories. Surveys reveal that many officers experience lingering emotional issues and recurring memories from traumatic incidents, with significant barriers to seeking mental health support due to stigma. EMDR therapy and early intervention protocols offer a safe, effective, and efficient solution to improve law enforcement officers’ mental health and resilience, enabling them to continue their vital work with greater stability and well-being.
