Abstract
Abstract We present a combined analysis of infrared spectroscopy and space photometry of twelve late-type eclipsing binary systems with low-mass components. All systems possess eccentric orbits, mostly with orbital periods longer than 10 days, except one with a 2.15 days orbital period. Among our target sample, two systems consist of components, each with a mass lower than 0.85M⊙, while other systems include a primary component from F or G spectral types, and a secondary component from K or M spectral types. There is no signal from a possible tertiary component in the systems. Only one system exhibits the third light contribution due to the flux contamination from a nearby object. Our spectroscopic and photometric analyses resulted in physical and radiative properties of the components in the systems, which are in good agreement with the theoretical predictions. Analysing data obtained from the same sources provides a self-consistency in the modelling process to a degree, hence we believe that our target sample might be a useful candidate for testing stellar evolution theories for solar-type stars.
