Abstract
Abstract This chapter focuses on strengthening problem-solving skills through the ADAPT model, guiding participants to apply structured, practical strategies in real situations. It highlights how the young autistic adult (YAA) practices setting realistic goals, weighing multiple possible solutions, and identifying the most effective course of action. The chapter encourages mentors to involve their YAA by seeking input on real problems, reinforcing learning through discussion, and fostering confidence through shared problem-solving experiences. It emphasizes recognizing and praising the YAA’s consistent effort and progress throughout the STEPS program. Finally, the chapter inspires persistence by reminding participants that personal growth and success directly reflect the effort they invest in.
