The effects of pellet quality and pellet die thickness on growth performance of finishing pigs

Lay Summary The objective of these studies was to determine how increasing the percentage of pellet fines at the feeder influenced finishing pig performance. This was accomplished by either adding pellet fines back to screened pellets or pelleting diets with varying pellet die criteria. These experiments demonstrated increasing the amount of pellet fines at the feeder results in poorer feed efficiency. Therefore, the amount of pellet fines at the feeder should be minimized to improve feed efficiency.
