Abstract
Abstract Chrysene is useful as a deep blue emitter, but remains challenging for practical applications, due to the intrinsically weak emission property. Herein, 6,12-bis((triisopropylsilyl)buta-1,3-diyn-1-yl)chrysene (1) was synthesized and its crystal structure, photophysical properties, and high-pressure fluorescence behavior were investigated. The triisopropylsilyl groups suppress aggregation-caused quenching, affording a solid-state fluorescence quantum yield of 0.64, comparable to that in the solution. Reversible piezochromic fluorescence with a bathochromic shift of up to 51 nm was observed upon hydrostatic compression to 4.2 GPa.
