Abstract
Abstract This chapter explores the newly introduced Article 5 on the International Administrative Review Council (IARC) of the ICDR Rules and describes the role of the IARC in resolving administrative issues during a case’s initial stages. The administrative issues to be determined include arbitrator challenges, whether made prior to appointment or in the middle of service; the number of arbitrators; filing requirements and administrative jurisdiction disputes; and the place of arbitration and location of a hearing. Created in 2017, the IARC follows the successful 2013 introduction of the AAA Administrative Review Council, which performs similar functions. The IARC is comprised of high-level AAA-ICDR executives.
