Abstract
Abstract A columnar liquid-crystalline urea, U(3,5-Sc-4-C9-Vin), exhibiting a helical columnar assembly and ferroelectricity, was photo-crosslinked in the columnar phase to afford a free-standing polymer film that retained ferroelectricity. X-ray diffraction, electro-optic measurements, and circular dichroism spectroscopy confirmed retention of the ferroelectric helical columnar structure after photo-crosslinking.
