Abstract
Abstract A phenanthroline–iminoquinone ligand (1), incorporating a redox-active o-iminoquinone moiety into an N,N’-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline framework, was synthesized. Its structural, photophysical and electrochemical properties were investigated by experimental and computational analyses. The N,N’-chelating properties of 1 toward the Pd(II) center was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction of the corresponding Pd complex, in which the N-aryl imine moiety was found to isomerize to an indoline unit.
