Abstract
Abstract Despite the availability of a large corpus of prime scholarly contributions attendant to Zimbabwe’s land reform, much of the literature and practice are largely devoid of a conscious social policy approach. Associated with this lacuna is a sustained barrage that limits social policy to social protection, mainly grounded in social assistance programs. This mono-tasking of social policy informs the interventions of most hegemonic international institutions in the Global South, where most governments are latently or manifestly influenced to adopt narrow social protection programs that fall short of the requirements for inclusive and transformative development. Based on Zimbabwe’s fast-track land reform, the chapter advances the largely untapped centrality of land reform as a social policy pathway with immense developmental transformation outcomes.
