Abstract
Representative organic semiconductors used in organic electronics are described in this chapter. They include π-conjugated organic molecules and polymers. The emphasis is on their structures, orbitals, bands, frontier orbitals (highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO)), topological defects (solitons and polarons), excitons, and transport and optical properties. Relevant aspects of the spectroscopy and photophysics of organic semiconductors are also introduced.
