Abstract
This chapter focuses on two representative case studies of organic conductors and superconductors. The first is (TMTSF)2PF6, the first organic superconductor to be synthesized, in 1979, and a prototype example for low-dimensional physics. The other case study is the perylene–metal dithiolate series, of which the first members were synthesized in the late 1960s. They are highly one-dimensional and come in magnetic and nonmagnetic flavours. Both cases are good examples of close collaboration between chemists and physicists, and strong interaction between experiment and theory.
