Abstract
Use of flat rock sections mounted on an X-ray diffractometer permits construction of a petrofabric diagram. The method is applicable to minerals of all symmetries. Absorption corrections are eliminated, and the data can be processed by a simple computer program. X-ray petrofabric diagrams of quartzite tectonites from California and Scotland, of the Yale marble, and of the Cypress Lake dunite, Washington, are presented and compared with the optical data on these rocks.
