Abstract
Points out that the descriptive terminology used in some recent studies of evaporites implies a metamorphic origin for such rocks even though they may be associated with or intercalated in unaltered limestone sequences, and proposes a new terminology for primary and secondary textures of stratified evaporites which is considered less ambiguous and free of genetic implications.
