Abstract
The surfaces of many thin flows interbedded with the pyroclastic material of Big Craters, Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho, are grooved, striated, pock-marked, and covered with shark's tooth projections.
These features in most cases resulted from the falling of blocks, bombs, and lapilli onto the surfaces of still molten flows. They indicate that there were periods during the growth of the cone when there was simultaneous extrusion of lava and pyroclastic material.
