Abstract
"In the historical sketch of the study of Quaternary the importance of stratigraphic base for paleontologic, mineralogic and other special aspects of the study is stressed. Special chapters are devoted to progress in geological mapping, development of mineral resources, study of fossil man, vertebrate and invertebrate animals and plants, and in tectonics. In conclusion the stratigraphy of the Quaternary is given, with a description for each major subdivision of its physiographic expression, lithology, fossil soils, and characteristic faunas and floras."
