Abstract
Pleistocene lake terraces in the Kunming basin, Yunnan, China, may have been formed during alternating wet and dry climatic regimes corresponding respectively to glacial and interglacial stages. Continuous uplift of the region and increased drainage incision during moist periods resulted in progressive lowering of the level of Lake Kun-Yang, whereas in more arid periods the level was stabilized by alluvial damming, with resulting accumulation of fluviolacustrine material on the basin floor.
