Abstract
An account of changes at Kilauea caldera during February and March 1891. In February several small lava lakes were present on the broad dome which occupied the caldera floor. The lakes were all at the same level and were believed to be interconnected. On March 6, an earthquake occurred, accompanied by subsidence in Halemaumau. On April 2, Halemaumau was an empty pit 500 ft deep.
