Abstract
Alexander includes a map of Mauna Loa9s summit, which shows Mokuaweoweo as a broad, central pit, with lunate platforms at both ends connected by gaps, the pits now called the "North and South Bays." Flows from the summit originate from the highest parts of Mokuaweoweo9s rim, and the author questions how the lava is extruded without filling up and overflowing Mokuaweoweo. Additional material is repeated from Alexander (1886).
