Abstract
Subsurface exploration of meandering valleys in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin, by means of a refraction seismograph, reveals large filled channels similar to those previously determined on English rivers, where the augering technique was used. The channels are asymmetrical in cross profile, and attain their greatest depths at valley bends. In cross-sectional area at probable bankfull they are some 25 times as large as the present stream channels.
