Abstract
t The conform ability between the TaC'ollic schists and the adjoining limestone I have observed at varions 10eaUties in Vermont, Ma~sachllsetts, Connecticut and New York.part of the localities on the west side of the range and the rest on the east; and between the same limestone and the schists (inclnding mica schists and gneiss) and quartzyte to the easLwal'd also at several localities in Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut, so that the fact cannot rightly be questioned.The discoveries of fossils near Newburgh, west of the Hudson, by Whitfield and Dwight, are additional evidence as to the relation of the rocks.
