Abstract
A closer geological and tectonic study divides the Andean orogenic belt into two main geological provinces: a western province consisting of an extensive batholith of acid and semi-acid rocks, and an eastern province formed of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks of early Paleozoic to late Tertiary age.
