Abstract
Over a limited range of conditions between 670 degrees to 800 degrees C. at 2000 bars it has been found possible to convert talc to anthophyllite + quartz, and enstatite + quartz to anthophyllite, in the presence of water. The concept that anthophyllite can be formed only in the water-deficient region is thus untenable.
