Abstract
Reports the results of experimental investigations of the liquidus and solidus relations along the join grossularite-pyrope, and discusses their petrologic implications.Among the latter, it is noted that the data indicate that instead of being the end product of the gabbro-norite contamination sequence, garnet- and cordierite-bearing magmatic rocks in contact zones may in some instances have been formed by fractional melting of country rock.
