Abstract
The authors describe and analyze rocks from Kukui (West Maui) and Haleakala (East Maui) Volcanoes. They also analyze intrusive gabbros from West Maui and from Molokai (Wailua valley). Compositions range from nepheline-bearing and olivine-rich basalts to anorthoclase trachyte. They note differences in the lava succession at the two volcanoes. They also note cognate inclusions of dunite, peridotite, wehrlites and gabbro in some lavas. The conclude by discussing differentiation processes. (Washington and Keyes did not visit Maui but worked on rocks collected by others.)
