Abstract
The hardness of ice increases with decreasing temperature until at-50 degrees it has a hardness of about 6. No doubt then at low temperatures snow possesses the physical properties required for corrasion effects even on hard rocks. Certain polished surfaces and mushroom-shaped rocks in glacial regions may well be due to wind-blown snow.
