Abstract
Alexander gives a laymen9s description of Haleakala Crater and its rock formations. He made a map of the crater (not shown in the article). As to the origin of the crater, Alexander concludes that this is a real terminal crater, and not merely a deep gorge open at the north and east,\" or a caldera. \"I leave the final assessment to the geologists.\"
