Abstract
The study aimed at building a measure of the attitudes of science teachers towards teaching science, identifying their attitudes towards teaching science and the impact of variables related to gender, experience, degree and specialization on the directions of teaching science in the Capital Secretariat, Sana'a governorate. The study sample consisted of 99 science teachers (51 male and 48 female) of different scientific levels and different experiences. In this study, the trend scale prepared by the researchers, which in its final version consisted of 58 negative and positive items, was used. The main results of the study were that there were no statistically significant differences due to gender or experience. However, the results of the study showed the existence of some differences according to the specialization variable in favor of some disciplines. Besides, the results did not show significant differences in the variables of the academic level of teachers. The most important recommendations of the study were as follow: Develop current training programs for in-service science teachers according to the results of recent studies and field reports. Develop new and effective training mechanisms during service as well as mechanisms for field follow-up after training. Developing different training programs according to the academic level of science teachers and not integrating everyone into one category during the training process. Work hard on the rehabilitation and training of teachers in the field according to the variables of the objectives of modern curricula aimed at making positive attitudes towards science and technology.
