Abstract
Pollution of the aquatic environment has become one of the major global problems that preoccupied governments and countries around the world, so it has been entrusted to states at the individual level the task of taking measures and setting legal rules that ensure its implementation in a manner that achieves the preservation of the marine environment and its protection from pollution. There are several causes and sources of marine pollution, including, but not limited to, waste disposal from ships, oil spills, industrial discharges, radioactive pollution, sewage waste and garbage. Because marine pollution has serious outcomes, it has been criminalized by regional and international conventions, not to mention national legislation
