Abstract
En España la platería gozó de grandísimo prestigio desde tiempos muy antiguos. Quizás fue el gremio más reglamentado, vigilado y amparado. A finales del siglo XIV las cofradías gremiales tenían sus privilegios definidos.
Don Juan de Aragón les otorgó el 3 de mayo de 1381 el derecho de elegir cada uno sus miembros, el día de San Eloy. En 1394 se fijó la ley del oro y se dictaron varias disposiciones reglamentarias del oficio.
