Abstract
Este estudo trata de um relato de experiência em que foi avaliado o estado cognitivo de idosos institucionalizados através do miniexame do estado mental, antes e após a aplicação de métodos recreativos. Os resultados foram analisados e comparados, levando a observar que os idosos institucionalizados necessitam de estímulos recreativos para haver uma melhora na qualidade de vida, impedindo que as funções cognitivas decaiam devido ao fato da institucionalização.
