Abstract
O ativismo político feminino popular tem sido analisado a partir da matriz explicativa da “maternidade militante”, originada na década de 80. Essa matriz associa o engajamento dessas mulheres à reprodução dos seus atributos de mães no universo da política. Contemporaneamente, a experiência de ativismo político dessa parcela da população feminina desafia essa matriz explicativa, apontando novas possibilidades compreensivas para esse fenômeno. Por meio de uma pesquisa etnográfica realizada na cidade de Recife-PE entre ativistas dos direitos das mulheres, de diferentes estratos sociais, este texto busca demonstrar essas novas possibilidades.PALAVRAS-CHAVES: ativismo político, mulheres, maternidade, camadas urbanas de baixa renda, feminismoABSTRACT: The popular female political activism has been analyzed by the “militant motherhood” model, created in the 80’s. This model links these women’s political commitment to the reproduction of their attributes as mothers in the political universe. In more contemporary times, the political activism experience of women from lower classes challenges this model and shows new comprehensive possibilities to this phenomenon. Based on the ethnographic research done in the city of Recife/PE, among women´s rights activists from different social stratum, this text intents to demonstrate these new possibilities.
