Abstract
«Mühendis-hâne-i Bahrî-i Hümâyûn», ders programı'nın niteliği yanı sıra, etkin bir eğitim için gerekli ortamı sağlamak nedeniyle de öncü ve örnek bir kuruluştu. Programı'nda bir batı dili ile birlikte pozitiv bilimlere yer veren «Mühendis-hâne-i Bahrî»nin, öğretimi bütünlük içinde yürütme bakımından, kütüphane ve laboratuvarla donatılması bunun kanıtıdır. Sonraları Okul'da bir de basımevi kurulduğu gözlenir. Deniz Harp Okulu, tarihsel konumundaki özelliklerle, askeri-siyasal tarih açısından olduğu ölçüde eğitim-kültür tarihimiz yönünden de ilgi çeker. Yazı, söz konusu özelliğin 'kütüphane hizmeti'ne yansıma biçimi ile Deniz Harp Okulu Kütüphanesi'nin çağdaş gereksinimikarşılar bir 'merkez' niteliğini nasıl kazanabileceği üzerinde durmaktadır.
