Abstract
Entre toda esa turba aventurera y codiciosa de conquistadores,
encomenderos y soldados que vinieron a lo que hoy es
América en busca de fortuna, sorprende encontrar, de pronto,
al letrado y al idealista que, en medio de los tremendos avatares
en los que la muerte y el dolor acechaban a cada paso, dedicaba
sus ratos a la meditación profunda, al trabajo erudito, a la inspiración poética y que, en medio de su bagaje, llevaba con amor, como quien lleva un hijo, los apuntes y cuadernos escritos en medio de la desesperación, el peligro y el hambre padecidos en
esas jornadas sorprendentes.
