Abstract
En alguna conversación que sostuvimos durante un congreso reciente, Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot me dijo que en Latinoamérica no había realmente literaturas nacionales, ya que los inventores de formas narrativas y poéticas evolucionaban en circunstancias históricas y sociales comunes a todos los países. Se me ocurrió entonces que, con respecto a novelistas y escritoras, se podría intentar una topografía, o mejor, una geografía de géneros, tomando en cuenta los procesos de transculturación e intertextualidad y abarcando el romanticismo, el regionalismo, el realismo y, ¿por qué no?, el género fantástico.
