Abstract
Paracelsus es un ejemplo para la juventud médica actual. Su vida giró con base en la investigación, las normas éticas de la medicina, los derechos huma-nos y la lucha por los principios espirituales. Criticó los excesos de los poderosos hacia los súbditos, el abuso de los farmaceutas hacia los pacientes, de los religiosos hacia sus feligreses. Atacó, hasta hacerlas desaparecer, las teorías de Galeno y Avicena que predominaban en el Renacimiento, como heren-cias anticuadas de siglos atrás, sin evolución. Su conocimiento de la situación social se manifiesta, al decir: “De la naturaleza yo he sido sutilmente criado; porque los que han nacido entre miel y pan de trigo y nosotros que crecimos entre piñas de abeto, no nos entendemos bien”. Defendió los derechos humanos con frases tan actuales como: “Nadie quien sabe ser su propio dueño, sea siervo de otro”.
