Abstract
Don José Ignacio de Márquez mostró durante las varias veces que ejerció la presidencia de la república y cuando ocupó el ministerio de hacienda, dos tendencias principales de su política, aparte de su propósito de mantener la paz, tan expuesta a ser alterada en su época. Fueron esas dos tendencias o propósitos de gobierno la conveniente organización de la hacienda pública y el fomento de la educación de la juventud.
