Abstract
La carte intitulée «Planisphère montrant l’élargissement progressif de l’horizon géographique», qui constitue la première figure du Traité de géographie physique d’Emmanuel de Martonne, a plusieurs fonctions: illustrer l’histoire de la géographie et éclairer les conditions de possibilité d’une géographie générale, à un moment où la Terre paraît entièrement connue. Elle incarne aussi la prise de conscience d’une mondialisation produite par la colonisation.
