Abstract
Este trabalho constitui-se a partir da verificação de leitura de dois textos,
feita por alunos do ensino fundamental (5ª série) em duas escolas localizadas
no município de Prudentópolis-Paraná, uma na área central da cidade e
outra na área rural. A pesquisa objetiva diagnosticar a competência leitora
desses alunos. Também, tem a intenção de verificar o papel dos conhecimentos
prévios na construção dos sentidos na leitura.
